There is a common view that specialist ministry among Deaf people is a luxury, an option that can be cut when resources are short... the kingdom of heaven is here on earth and it is for all, including Deaf people...

...it is not only cerebrally challenging for a priest to offer signed Mass in word and sign, he is also dexterously and spatially challenged as well... there is the visual dimension of liturgy that is very important but which is often overlooked. In fact, Masses celebrated with Deaf people will benefit all because it encourages good liturgical practice! The GIRM encourages reverence towards the altar by ensuring that nothing blocks the view of what is happening at the altar. Too often Mass is just a verbose celebration...
